Member skiing is down about 2 percent this year, but skier spending is up.

Snow conditions tend to rule resort patronage. Melanie Mills, president and CEO of CSCUSA said “So where conditions were dry during some important mid-season weeks, we saw a sizeable drop in visits. The combination of snow, when it arrived, and a smorgasbord of great deals really boosted visits in February.”

Some Vail Resorts Reports 22.7 Percent Decline in Quarterly Revenue, their 2nd quarter earnings were not bad on all fronts. The mountain reported EBITDA and resort reported EBITDA (which includes mountain and lodging segments) for the second quarter improved from the same period in the prior year by 3.6 percent and 2 percent, respectively.

Snows on the West coast this weekend should prove to boost the ski economy this weekend.
