The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. in Eaton Canyon, Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said.
A 26-year-old woman was hiking with friends when she became sick with what appeared to be diabetic symptoms, Derderian said, as reported by Brian Day.
Officials hiked to the woman, and then determined she needed a helicopter rescue. She was taken to a hospital and is believe to be recovering.
This is the third incident this week officials have had to helicopter someone out of Eaton Canyon. Officials warned that as the weather gets warmer hikers should be more cautious in the wildnerness;
“We can’t emphasize enough the need to be prepared,” she said.
