U.S. Paralympic skier Alana Nichols made some big history in Whistler at the 2010 Paralympic Games: With her victory in the sit-ski giant slalom, Nichols became the first American woman to win gold medals in both the summer and winter games.  Nichols was part of the U.S. wheelchair basketball team that took home gold in Beijing, and now she becomes quite a unique athlete with her gold at this year’s Paralympics.  Nichols finished 4.21 seconds ahead of her American teammate Stephani Victor, and Kuniko Obinata took the bronze for Japan.
