While the sun continues to shine down hard here in Los Angeles as this is being written, New Mexico is seeing a resurgence of winter-like weather. For some, that’s a bummer. For skiers and snowboarders however, that means more time to shred!
Ski Santa Fe will be extending this ski season by a week, closing April 11th now. El Nino related storms have left a 126-inch deep snowpack in the ski area. Spring hours start March 22nd. Chair lifts will open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m. The ticket, rental, skier services, snow sports school and Wintermill Sports Shop will open on full days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Half days will be 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Ski New Mexico, the nonprofit trade organization that promotes the ski industry in the state, has said that many ski areas in addition to Ski Santa Fe will be extending their seasons due to the great snowfall this year.
