You can wear the same jean-pants U.S. Olympic snowboarders wore

Remember those cool looking pants the members of the U.S. Olympic Snowboarding team wore during the Games? They looked like jeans but were actually made of Gore-Tex? Click here to read more about them.

Well, now if you want to look like Shaun White and others, you can. Starting in October, those pants will go on sale at snowboard specialty shops and on the Burton website. If you can fork up $249.95, the pants are yours! While we’ve heard only positive things about the pants, some feel they bring out the “punk” stereotype of snowboarding a bit too much. “I read the blogs,” says Greg Dacyshyn, creative director at Burton who designed the pants. “It’s not surprising that you might find some skiers who felt the pants were disrespectful,” he says.

While the pants may look tattered, they’re actually quite high-tech. They’re made using photo sublimation, where a photo is taken of some tattered jeans and then printed onto the garment via a technical heat process. The Gore-Tex made them ultrawaterproof.

Here’s Jake Burton, founder of Burton Snowboarders, talking about the pants, and about the sport in general:
