Finally, the lifties get their day

We always love the days when our favorite people, the lifties, the ski lift operators, get showered with the praise they deserve! Starting next week, March 29th-April 2nd, Utah’s three Wasatch Back ski resorts (Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons Resort and Deer Valley Resort) will host the second annual Wasatch Backside Lifty Invitational.

Jeff Marzka, lift operations manager at Park City, remind us that the event is held “to recognize the hard work of our lift operations teams”.

Four events at each of the three resorts make up the invitational. At Deer Valley, the Clock Toss, Stop Gate Javelin, Boot Toss and Snow Scoop Heft start things off. Then at the Canyons, lifties will compete in a Maze Setup, Lost and Found Mound, Tug of War and the Trash Can Fill. Finally, the fun moves to the Park City Mountain Resort for Scoop Relays, the Return Gear Relay, the Ski Pole Spin Relay, and the 40 Yard Ski Boot Relay!

“Lift Operations can really be a thankless job,” said Deirdre Riley, lift operations manager at The Canyons. “All three resorts have great teams that work hard and play hard! What better way to focus all that energy then to challenge each other at the skills we use everyday?”
