Rest in peace, Jim Marshall. The brilliant photographer is dead at 74. Marshall was responsible for capturing some of the most epic and unforgettable images in rock history. And, if you’ve read our piece on The Top 10 Ski Guitars, you can tell how much we love and appreciate the music world.

If you visit Marshall’s website, you’ll see some of his great work, including Johnny Cash at San Quentin Prison in 1969, Bob Dylan chasing the tire down the street in 1963, and Jimi Hendrix setting his axe on fire at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival.

You’ll also see memorable shots of Ray Charles, The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis, Jim Morrison and more.

Our condolences go out to all who knew and loved Jim Marshall. Cause of death has not been confirmed.
