We love hearing great news in the ski industry. Today, the Chapman Hill Ski Area in Durango, Colorado reported that this season, their skier visits more than doubled! Chapman Hill is a tiny area, but it proves that if the snow falls, people will come. It received a whopping 98 inches of white stuff this winter!
Chapman is run by the city, and was open from December 9th until March 14th. It reported 2,096 total visits for the season, with 589 of those visits coming from the 21 people who bought season passes. Adult season passes were only $100, and adult day passes to use the rope tow were only $10. Love it!
The city has budgeted $36,000 to operate the hill this year, and Director of Parks and Recreation Cathy Metz said revenue figure for the year should be available next month. Congrats Chapman Hill!
