Good news is always welcomed at The Ski Channel. Anyone related to the snow industry should be feeling frisky with most numbers up this year from last.

Thomas B Doyle VP of information and research at National Sporting Goods Association said today that the numbers were very positive for ski and snowboarding considering a lot of other sports showed flat numbers. In a 10,000 I-skied-this-year-household survey, snowboarding at resorts was up 19%.  That’s a lotta crew shredding!

In total, participation numbers show skiing up 6%, snowboard numbers up 5.7%, skiing alpine up 7.3%, cross country up 7.4%.

The National Sporting Goods Association serves the sporting goods industry by providing information, education and cost-saving services. In addition, NSGA serves as the voice of the retailer/dealer, speaking out on issues that affect sporting goods retailers/dealers. NSGA speaks out in its own publications, through its Board of Directors and by taking active roles in issues-based coalitions.

The season isn’t over yet!
