Mark Burnett, the mega Hollywood producer who gave us shows such as “Survivor” and “The Apprentice” is now backing a new production. “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” starring none other than former Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin.
Now, we’re not going to weigh in any political views here–not our place to do that. But we do feel it our duty as an entertainment company, and as frequenters of the wonderful heliskiing Alaska has to offer, to vent our feelings.
Sarah Palin is most likely going to run for President of the United States in 2012. Ask yourself how you would feel if your future Presidential candidate, or maybe even President, was the star of a reality TV show a couple years before taking office. To us, there is something so inherently wrong with that, it’s scary.
Discovery Communications made the announcement today, and explained that the show will be an eight-part series about Sarah and her life in Alaska. It will air on The Learning Channel. Sarah said that she “[looks] forward to working with Mark to bring the wonder and majesty of Alaska to all Americans”.
At this point, the only thing that can redeem this idea for us is if Sarah brings the wonder and majesty of Alaskan skiing to all Americans.
Thanks for letting us vent a bit. If you want to do the same, or give your pro-Palin reality show argument, feel free to comment below.
