On Saturday, the final day of the 2010 GMC Canadian alpine ski racing championships, Michael Janyk became the only winner from last season to repeat a victory. He took the slalom, making him now a four-time men’s slalom champion. His two-run combined time on Saturday was 129.54. “This is pretty good. I have to try to keep up with my sister,” Janyk said laughing, after his older sister Britt picked up the 13th GMC Canadian championship title of her career in Friday’s women’s giant slalom.
Holding onto the overall men’s GMC Cup was Kelby Halbert of Bradford, Ontario, who came in seventh in slalom. For the women, the overall title went to Victoria Stevens of Ottawa. For the women’s slalom, Marie-Michele Gagnon of Lac-Etchemin, Quebec took the cake.
