Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – March 31, 2010 – Lake Tahoe’s largest ski and snowboard destination, Heavenly Mountain Resort (www.skiheavenly.com), received up to 18 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, priming the resort for Easter weekend and punctuating Heavenly’s reputation as spring skiing and riding’s premier mountain.
“The snow from this storm has been super light and dry, beautiful winter snow on the last day of March,” said John Wagnon, Heavenly’s vice-president of Marketing and Sales. “With a base of about 108 inches, we’re looking at a spring full of snow, bluebird days and big events like this weekend’s Gunbarrel 25.”
On April 3, freeskiing legend Glen Plake will host Heavenly’s sixth-annual Gunbarrel 25 mogul marathon on North America’s toughest black-diamond bump run: Gunbarrel. The event is designed to incorporate Plake’s passion for freestyle skiing with Heavenly’s legendary spring bumps. The event is open to all advanced skiers and riders.
On April 10, the Heavenly Ski Patrol Fundraiser Beach Party will be held on top of the Gondola parking garage on beginning at 4:30 p.m. Live music will be performed by Blue Turtle Seduction and The Devastators. Entry is a $10 donation and proceeds benefit the Special Olympics, Bob Tara Memorial Fund and the Heavenly Professional Ski Patrol Fund.
