As many of you in the ski world may already know, an avalanche took the life of Jack Hannan on March 31st. Jack, from Pemberton, British Colubmia was a loving husband, son and friend. He also won the 2003 Crested Butte US Freeskiing Championships. He was a standup guy, and he will be deeply missed.

Jack was heli-skiing with three others on 8,500-foot Mount Currie in the Pemberton valley. The three skiers were conservatively sliding down one by one when the class three avalanche struck, taking Jack. The other three skiers were higher up on the mountain and less exposed to the slide. They are OK.

Our deep condolences go out to Jack’s wife, Laura Ogden, 2006 Freeskiing World Tour Champion.

A memorial for Jack Hannan has been set for Saturday, April 12th at 4PM. It will be held at the Black Squirrel Restaurant at the The Meadows at Pemberton Golf Course in Pemberton, British Columbia.
