Tragically, a 33-year-old man was killed in an avalanche on Friday when he was snowmobiling with his friends in Idaho, near the Wyoming border.
The man, Thell Bart Weekes, was from Ririe, Idaho. Air Idaho Rescue flew him to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he was reported dead. Sadly, this is the fifth avalanche death in Idaho and Montana within a week. On March 28, a snowmobiler from Idaho died in Montana’s Lolo National Forest while highmarking. On March 30, two snowmobilers from Washington State died near McCall, Idaho, and on April 1 a Whitefish, Mont., man died in an avalanche while snowboarding in Glacier National Park.
Our condolences go out to all who knew and loved all of these people who perished in the mountains.
