Guinness world record set for the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets

…and contrary to what we assumed when we heard the news, it wasn’t set at a ski resort! You’d think that a record like that would take place somewhere cold, perhaps snowy…so we really expected the rest of the story to say: “…set at the Mammoth Mountain ski area…” or something. It appears we were wrong.

The record for “the largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets” was set last night in Anaheim, California at an Angels baseball game. It was the Angels versus the Minnesota Twins, and in the fifth inning, many of the 43,510 fans put on the red fleece blankets they were handed when they walked into the stadium.

Danny Girton, Jr., an adjudications executive with Guinness was on hand to officiate. “I’m pleased to say a new record has been set for sure, though I will have to review video and photo evidence to come up with an exact count”, he said.

This whole thing got us thinking it’s time to set a new record for something at a ski resort. Any cool ideas? Write them in the comments below!
