Squaw Valley USA reports the longest and most complete season in Lake Tahoe

[Squaw Valley USA] April 7, 2010 – After receiving seven feet of fresh snow in seven days, Squaw Valley USA is once again offering the longest and most complete ski season in Lake Tahoe with plans to stay open for skiing and riding through May 9, 2010. Squaw Valley’s annual snowfall of 450 inches and mountain topography featuring acres upon acres of upper elevation North-facing terrain are among the natural attributes that enable the resort to remain open through the middle of May each ski season. This year, Squaw Valley’s closing date coincides with the resort’s May 9, 2010 deadline to purchase 2010-11 Season Passes at the discounted rate. 2010-11 Season Passes are on sale now starting at $369 for an adult pass with the option of adding a pass for this spring for $129. Spring Season Passes are also available separately for $179.

• To date, Squaw Valley USA has received over 475 inches or over 39 1/2 feet of snow this season, already exceeding the resort’s annual average of 450 inches.
• Base depths currently measure 170-180 inches on the upper elevations.
• A testament to Squaw Valley’s spring bounty, the National Weather Service is calling for snow showers this coming weekend, April 9 through April 13.
• Current video and images of spring condtions are available on www.squaw.com.

Squaw Valley’s blues skies, radiant sunshine, and deep snowpack epitomize perfect spring skiing conditions. Along with fresh powder, springtime brings coveted ‘corn’ snow, when the snow freezes at night and then softens gradually throughout the day as it is warmed by the sun. Akin to fresh powder, the corn snow surface is soft and forgiving and makes turning easy and very fun.

Squaw Valley’s legendary spring product and the opportunity to package a 2010 Spring Pass with a 2010-11 Season Pass are two great reasons to come ski and ride Squaw this spring!
