Eight years ago, competitive snowboarder Matt Wyffels was paralyzed. Since then, the Breckenridge Ski Resort has hosted the Massive Rail Jam benefit in his honor. This year, things are changing. Wyffels wants all proceeds to go to injured rider Kevin Pearce.

Pearce is recovering from a head injury he suffered earlier this winter. Right now he’s in Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado, the same hospital that treated Wyffels.

The Matt Wyffels Rail Jam Open will go down today at the base of Breckenridge’s Peak 8. Enjoy prizes, giveaways and live music.

The benefit party will happen Saturday night, at Cecilia’s nightclub in Breckenridge. Hosted by Olympic Bronze Medalist JJ Thomas, and other members of the Breckenridge Freeride Team, and featuring live DJ’s, drink specials and giveaways, 100% of money raised at this event be donated to Pearce to aid in his recovery.
