Well, the sad yet inevitable day has finally come for skiers and riders of the Okemo Mountain Resort. Today is closing day. Try to stifle the tears and think back on what a great season it’s been. Here’s Okemo’s goodbye message on their website. See you soon guys!
“Friday, April 9, 2010 – Closing Day
From epic powder days to scorching-hot spring skiing, it has been one wild winter season. All good things must come to an end, including the 2009/2010 ski and ride season at Okemo. Today at 4 p.m. the last chair will depart, marking the final day of skiing and riding at Okemo this season. Our Mountain Operations team has done an incredible job, but due to the recent weather they have decided they can no longer provide the quality skiing and riding experience our guests deserve. But as one door closes, another opens. The Okemo Valley Golf Club will open with reduced-rate greens fees for play on all 18 holes this Saturday, April 10! So break out the clubs, hiking boots, bathing suits and bicycles – a whole new season of recreational activities begins tomorrow at Okemo Mountain Resort!
For our final day we will be skiing and riding on 15 trails covering 104 acres of terrain. Please note that some areas have been left ungroomed to preserve the snow conditions, and please watch for thin and bare spots. Two lifts will be spinning to take us up for our final few runs of the season. Some terrain park features can still be enjoyed in the AMP Energy Superpark and on Timberline. The Ross Powers Superpipe is still looking great and is waiting for your finishing moves. Though skies will be mostly cloudy, we may encounter some scattered showers today. Throw on a good waterproof shell and show Mother Nature that she can’t stop you from having one last good time on the slopes!
Late-season ticket pricing is in effect with an adult, all-day ticket costing only $29.
If you have been eyeing up that new set of skis or board all season, now is your chance to add it to your quiver at a great price. The Okemo Snowsports Shop is slashing prices on skis from Stockli, Rossignol, Salomon, Elan and Atomic as well as snowboards by Burton. Stop by and scoop up some fresh gear to begin your 10/11 season with.
Although today is the last day of the season, it doesn’t have to be goodbye. You can stay in touch with Okemo all year-round by becoming a fan of Okemo Mountain Resort on Facebook and by following us on Twitter. Fans and followers are privileged to exclusive offers and information all year.
We hope you can join us this summer at Okemo. In addition to actvities like Camp Gokemo, golf, hiking, swimming and cycling, we have a lot of great events planned. The Jackson Gore Concert Series brings talented musicians to the Jackson Gore Courtyard on Friday nights all summer. The celebration begins with the sounds of Dr. Burma on June 18! Plus, don’t miss the Hops in the Hills Brew Festival and Chicken Wing Championship on August 7. Please visit our online events calendar for a complete listing of upcoming events.
In addition to skiing and riding our legs off today, there’s one last thing to do to finish this season – pick up your 2010/2011 Season Pass by April 30 for the lowest rate! Purchasing is quick and convenient with our online store, and well worth the peace of mind it delivers knowing your spot on the chairlift is secured once the snow falls.
From our family here at Okemo Mountain Resort to your family, thank you for making the 2009/2010 season a very memorable one! It would not have been nearly as much fun without having great people to share it with. We hope to see you around the mountain soon!”
