A helicopter carrying 18 people landed on a ski slope in Russia’s Far East Kamchatka region was covered by an avalanche, killing ten of the passengers.  There were Belgian and German tourists on board as well as Russians.

Eight people were rescued – seven tourists and one crew member – and were airlifted to a nearby airport and taken to local hospitals. Rescue teams are still working at the site with dog teams to recover the remaining bodies.
