Powder alert: A foot of snow is on its way to the Sierra Nevada

It looks like Spring may be on hold for a few days in the Sierra Nevada, as a huge snowstorm with 45 mph gusting winds dumped five inches in the mountains above Lake Tahoe in the last day, and another foot is expcted in the upper elevations by Tuesday.  The snow conditions at Lake Tahoe ski resorts like Alpine Meadows are epic right now, especially when you take in account that it’s April.  Make sure to get your skiing or riding in early in the week though, as temperatures are forecasted to go back into the normal range by the end of the week.
