Well if you judge cool by nearly tappin the moon with your tips, then she is pretty freakin cool! At the super cool Canyons ski resort in Park City, Grete with the help of the company that seems to do every stunt in skiing- Red Bull, popped up 31 feet in the air. That was enough for her to set the unofficial world record. Who makes it official anyway? Can’t we just make it official? We are pretty big.
The Canyons park crew shoveled, cut and shaped more than 45 thousand yards of snow to create the largest snow terrain park feature ever built in Utah so Grete Eliassen, an accomplished free skier and X-Games medalist could turn into a human rocket.
Grete, about as hot as Mercury, hit the 30 foot jump at about 60 mph on her journey towards outer space. No word on whether she met any spacemen, spent any time at the Russian Space Station or brought back any moon rocks – but she did have this to say… “There is no other experience in the world that feels even close to what I feel when I am jumping. Having such a large feature built just for me was a super humbling experience. With my whole crew, family and friends watching it was really an incredible day. It is a moment in my life I will remember forever.”
Eliassen clicked into her skis, hit the custom 30 foot hip feature and soared more than 31 feet in the air. No woman has ever come close to reaching this height on skis. Check it out:
Grete, we love you.
