The one-of-a-kind Arctic Man has just rapped up its 25th year with a 65k purse and 25k going to the winner of the ski division.  If you’re friends with Scott Macartney, drinks are on him.  It’s the third time Macartney and snowmobiler Tyson Johnson have won the Arctic Man Ski and Sno-Go Classic.

The 32-year-old Macartney recently announced his retirement from the U.S. Ski Team.  The 25k should ease his pain.

The Arctic Man teams skiers and boarders with a snowmobiler for five minutes of absolute athletic madness.  The race starts at the top of a gigantic Alaskan mountain.  The skier bombs down the mountain, hitches up with a snowmobiler who toes the racer to the top of the next mountain at speeds of 80 mph.  The racer then drops the rope and skis down the second mountain to the finish line.
