Early numbers of Colorado skier visits offer both good and bad news

There are still a few weeks left in the 2009-10 ski and snowboard season, but there are already some numbers being released about skier visits in the state of Colorado.  When it comes to smaller resorts such as Monarch Mountain or Sunlight Mountain Resort, the news is predominantly good, as their visits have gone up and some are even expecting new records of attendance.  However, when looking at the larger, destination ski resorts, the news is a little more mixed.

In January, <a href="http://www.theskichannel.com/ski-resort/usa/co/Vail-Ski-Resort” title=”Vail” alt=”Vail” target=”Self”>Vail Resorts Inc. indicated that visits were down 1.6 percent, while at the end of February, Colorado Ski Country USA said their numbers were down 2 percent.  Aspen Skiing Co. is expecting their numbers to be up in the low, single-digit percantages, as the early-season snow helped draw numbers.  Since there still is time to get out and enjoy all the Colorado snow, get out to your favorite mountain and help get these numbers up!
