                                                                                            Summer’s best kept secret
They’re called the ‘Green’ Mountains for a reason

STRATTON, Vermont – We’ve seen and heard the feedback over the last few days, ever since the ski and snowboard season came to a close.

“The snow is gone,” you say. “Thanks for a great season Stratton! We’ll see you next November.”

So we’re going to share our little secret with you. There’s a reason why these are the ‘Green Mountains’ and why Vermont is known as the ‘Green Mountain’ state.

Summer is Vermont’s best-kept secret.

If Vermont wanted to be known only for its snow, it wouldn’t be referred to as the Green Mountain State. If it wanted its foliage to stand out, it would be aptly titled ‘The Foliage State.’

The Green Mountains are a yearlong playground, a place defined not just by snow, but also by sun, with activities for young and old, mom and dad, brother and sister.

Stratton is your base camp to Southern Vermont with shopping, dining and activities galore from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day, when the summit gondola starts to round into picture-perfect postcard form. Whether it’s hiking the state’s century-old Long Trail, cultivated here at Stratton, taking swings at Golf University, carving ice at nearby Riley Rink, or curling up with a good book in your spacious resort condo, there’s something here for the entire family.

For Mom

Shop – The Village Shops have every shopping need taken care of from the latest in outdoor apparel at the North Face, shades at the Burton store, jewelry at Von Bargen’s and the only Bogner’s store in North America. If you are a bargain hunter, check out the outlets in Manchester, or wander through one of the many antique stores on Vermont’s country roads.

Yoga, Massage and Spa – It is always a good idea to take care of the body, mind and the soul and what better way to do so than with an early morning yoga class at the Stratton Sports Center. Follow that up with one of their numerous massage options, or for those looking to be pampered head to toe, check out the fine selection of facials, manicures, pedicures and wraps available at the Spa at Stratton Mountain.

For Dad

Fly Fishing – Whether you’re a beginner or an expert. Looking to fine tune your skills, or even if you can’t tell the difference between a lure and the pole, our fly fishing guides will show you our local waters and the best places to fish. Come learn in this interactive setting with half-day, full-day or two-day sessions available for individuals and groups. No need to worry about the equipment, we’ve got it all taken care of.

Legends Weekend – Join Grand Slam winner and the voice of tennis on ESPN, Cliff Drysdale for an unforgettable weekend getaway on and off the court. This amazing package includes clinics, competition and meals, where you’ll be able to share stories and pick the legend’s mind on most anything and everything. After all, how often can you have a U.S. Open winner help you with your backhand?

For the Kids

Kids Kamp – Held weekly from mid-June to Labor Day, Stratton Kids Kamp 2010 is catered to kids 3-13, with eight different themed weeks to please the foodie, traveler, environmentalist, adventurer and the athlete in all of us. From field trips, to rock climbing, pottery, photography and a Camp Olympics, your child’s options are as limitless as the day itself.

Thrill Zone – The Bromley Thrill Zone is home of the region’s longest ZipRider and the state’s longest water slide raft ride. The famed triple-track Alpine Slide can pick up speeds of 30+ miles an hour leaving thrill seekers satisfied at this summer mountain Mecca. ThrillZone passes are complementary with a Family Fun Package, which includes lodging and morning access.

Paintball – The action, the strategy and the adrenaline of gearing up and opening fire awaits you at the Stratton Sun Bowl. Great for birthday parties, family outings, team building, corporate retreats, or just a fun way to release some of that pent up energy, the game is always on, rain or shine, as is the excitement.

For the Family

Our professional staff will customize the program for each age and ability level, using the same 22-acre learning center, teaching tools and expert instruction for which Stratton is renowned. Half-day, full-day and two-day sessions available.

Gondola Rides – Want one of the best views in all of New England? Take a ride up the gondola to the top of Southern Vermont’s highest peak for the picturesque and tranquil scenery. Once you’ve arrived up top (3,875 feet), hike on over to the fire tower for a panoramic view stretching across the White and Green Mountains, the Berkshires and the Adirondacks.
