Congratulations to Luke Mehl and John Pekar, winners for the second consecutive year of the Alaska Mountain Wilderness Ski Classic!

The pair, from Anchorage, completed the 180-mile race in five days, 12 hours, 48 minutes. More of an adventure-race than straight up race, the Ski Classic went from Galbraith Lake to Anaktuvuk Pass to Wiseman, passing through the Brooks Range.

The sun was intense during the day, and the aurora displays at night were even more intense! Bears, wolves, and caribou surrounded them as they skiied until midnight every day. Great job guys!
