Aksel Lund Svindal has switched to Head skis. The Norwegian is a titan of World Cup ski racing, having won two overall World Cup titles, a medal of each color at the Vancouver Winter Olympics (including a gold in super G), and three World Championships golds.
Svindal posted his decision on his website:
Yes, HEAD it is!
There have been some speculations lately about what skis I will be on next year. I’ve stayed away and haven’t commented on anything, as nothing has been finalized and completed. But now it’s all confirmed, and I’m very happy to say I’ve joined the HEAD team.
I’ve used most of my time and energy these last three weeks gathering as much info as I possibly could before making my decision. My ski company is my most important partner, and I wanted to be sure I made the right choice no matter what direction I went. I’m now sure that I have. The more I think about it, the happier I am about joining the HEAD team.
I’ve had many great years with Atomic and for that I’m thankful. What made my decision difficult was all the people that I’ve worked close with and I have gotten to know over the years.
The testing I’ve done with HEAD has been very good. My impression is that the material is great, the team works very well together and the cooperation with HEAD will bring new possibilities. And Bode, Didier, Maria and Lindsey have already proved that it’s very fast!
