Montana’s Beartooth Pass cancels ski and snowboard camp

Today, officials announced that the Red Lodge International Summer Ski and Snowboard Camp of Beartooth Pass in Montana will not open this year. The main cause for this is a lack of snow.

Joseph Maxwell, a partner in the project, made the announcement after visiting the area and examining how much snow had fallen. What is there will disappear quickly, he said. Last year the area stayed open through July 4th (like Mammoth Mountain in California!) and still had plenty of snow but closed because there were no more groups scheduled.

Beartooth Pass is on 600 acres and lies about 10,800 feet above Twin Lakes. It is served with two lifts that provide access to 1,000 feet of terrain.
