The 2010 Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival is going down this Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm at the Village at Squaw Valley! Learn about how we can all do our parts to help our Mother Earth—from recycling to composting, using alternative energy, learning about sustainability, watershed, forest health, and how to reduce your carbon footprint.

There will be tons of vendors and guides explaining all this glorious information at the base of the resort.

One of the coolest parts of the day will be Dr. Solar’s self-contained solar powered portable traveling family entertainment experience! It’s an eco-friendly gypsy wagon that comes with an eco-themed interactive show! Perfect for the whole family.

For more interactive fun, enjoy Rolling reCreate’s hands-on craft experience in their vehicle. It encourages everyone to rethink the idea of “trash”–where it goes, what is trash, etc. Rolling reCREATE will provide the trash, tools and instruction for kids to build turn the trash into something useful. This is open to kids of all ages.

This year’s event features three live bands during the day. The lineup includes local favorites Drop Theory, the Mark Sexton Band and headliner, Dusty Rhodes and the River Band.

Also at this year’s bash is the Truckee High School Envirolution Trashion Show, a recycling fashion show of artsy outfits that students make out of materials that are not easily biodegraded. Each outfit will be presented with a commentary piece that is both funny and educational, sending the message that everyone can consciously work at reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Enjoy the fest, and Happy Earth Day!
