Dogs don’t just save us from avalanches, this dog lead police to burning house in Alaska

We have a very deep respect for our canine friends here at The Ski Channel. After all, with their ridiculously strong sense of smell, they can fish out a skier buried under an avalanche at a much faster rate than we can. They save countless lives every ski season. Watch our segment on avalanche dogs on our show, “Destination Mammoth”.

If you thought snow dogs just saved us from avalanches, think again. Meet Buddy, a German Shepherd from Alaska who led the Alaska State Troopers to his owner’s burning house the other night. The Troopers are presenting Buddy with a special award today to honor his heroism. His owner only suffered minor burns from the fire, but it could have been a lot worse had Buddy not notified the authorities…
