Congratulations to Ski New Mexico, the nonprofit trade organization that promotes the state’s ski industry. This year marks the most number of skier visits they’ve had since the 2000-2001 season.

The total number came out to 964,793–the season ended April 18th. George Brooks, executive director of Ski New Mexico, attributes the greater number of skier visits to the recession. The huge snowfall this season didn’t hurt either, the average among the ski areas was 221 inches.
