John Carwile of Hampton, Virginia was paralyzed from the waist down in a snow-tubing accident at the Rockingham County ski resort.
It happened in January of 2009, when his head hit the wall at the end of the tubing run. He is now suing Rockingham’s parent company, Massanutten Resort, for more than $25 million.
His lawyer, Patrick Regan, filed the suit and is seeking $25 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages–that’s the maximum allowed by Virginia law. Regan is saying that Massanutten was negligent in setting up and operating the snow-tube runs.
