Bluebird pow day in almost-May in Mammoth today

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no – it’s a bluebird pow day in almost-May! Our most recent storm dropped about a foot of snow, bringing our season snow total to about 536″. The conditions couldn’t be better. And if you’re riding your office chair right now, instead of the chairlift, don’t worry – the weekend should be epic.

WCI (West Coast Invitational) starts tomorrow and includes:

    * The Eddie Wall Ride Invitational – A  new contest on Lower Broadway made up exclusively of wall ride features.The WCI Rail Jam in The Village – Pros and top amateurs sessioning a three-story jib feature in The Village for big bucks.
    * Eagles of Death Metal at Canyon Lodge – advance tickets are just $5!

And there are deals-galore. Checkout the SpringFest package that starts at $99 per person/per night and includes lift and lodging. The Spring FourPack is just $199 for FOUR lift tickets, plus two free Dodger tickets. And if you’re thinking about picking up a season pass, the Mammoth Season Pass is half price until 8pm on Friday night. Only $849, it’s good for unlimited skiing next winter and Mammoth and June. You can also use it starting Saturday for the remainder of this season, which is slated to run until July 4.

All Day – Starbucks in The Village – 10% Locals’ discount.

7:30am-8:30am – Base Camp Cafe – Early Bird special -  $5.  Breakfast bagel and small bevvie.

All Afternoon – Old New York Deli- $5 Angus burger special w/side.

3pm-6pm – Happier Hour at Gomez’s – With Mexi Fries, quesadillas and chimichangas for less than $3 and great beer specials it’s a great Happy Hour. Our faves? The Mexi Fries and shrimp tacos.

3pm-6pm – Auld Dubliner – $4 drafts and well drinks. 1/2 price appetizers.

4pm-6pm – Smokeyard – Happy Hour – $4 wine and champagne, $4 well drinks, $2 beer, 1/2 price pizza and wings.

4pm-5:30pm -  Happy Hour at Whiskey Creek. 50% off all food, except desserts, in the bar and $1 off pints. If you’re looking for dinner it’s the best deal in town. And the food is really good.  If you want a table, get there early.

4:30pm-6:30pm – Happy Hour at The Bistro at Snowcreek – 50% off well drinks and draft beer and appetizer specials. Our faves? The $4 onion rings, $4 B.L.A.T. (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato) sandwich with fries, garlic-heavy hummus and veggie plate and $2.50 Mammoth Brewing Company pints.

4:30pm-end of the night – Happy Hour at Rafters – Drinks starting at $2.50. 50% off lounge menu.

4:30pm-6pm – Happy Hour at the bar in the Chart House. $3 menu: Brushetta; Fried Artichoke Hearts; Spinach Artichoke Dip. $4 menu: Firecracker Shrimp; Fried Mushrooms; Ahi Nachos. $5 Menu: Prime Rib Sliders; Fish Tacos; Oysters on the Half Shell.
