At 67 years old, actress Lynn Redgrave died of breast cancer yesterday. She fought a long battle with the disease, and it took her life Sunday in Connecticut.
Her children said today: “Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven-year journey with breast cancer. She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives”.
Redgrave’s niece, Natasha Richardson, died in a skiing accident last year.
She was nominated for two Oscars – once in 1967 for best actress in Georgy Girl and again in 1999 for best supporting actress in Gods and Monsters. Additionally, she was awarded an OBE for her services to drama in 2002.
She is survived by six grandchildren, her sister Vanessa and four nieces and nephews. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.
