BOULDER, CO – Two authentic ski icons converge on-snow and across the silver screen as Spyder Active Sports, the world’s leading skiwear and mountain-based apparel brand and Warren Miller Entertainment, the largest and most recognized action sports film tour in the world sign a two-year relationship for the 61st and 62nd annual Warren Miller film tours.
True to Spyder’s innovative form, the brand is capitalizing on their involvement by providing a wide array of athletes from different disciplines – from the graceful backcountry and big mountain skiers to irreverent freestylers – to showcase their progressive nature in athletes and film.
“Warren Miller and Spyder have spent several months working on some compelling stories and we are stoked to be part of the Warren Miller movie tour for the next couple of years. The crew at Warren Miller, Chris Davenport and Stian Hagen just got back from shooting in Girdwood, AK and the footage is insane,” said Russ Rowan, Spyder’s VP of sales and marketing.
The segment shot in the steep terrain of the Chugach Mountains featuring Davenport and Hagen, two legendary big mountain skiers on the Spyder team, will be part of the 2010 feature film to be released in mid-October.
Plans are also underway for a selection of Spyder athletes to shoot on location in Portillo, Chile for the 2011 WME feature film. Davenport and Hagen will be showcased along with legendary skiers and Olympic medalists Tommy Moe and Steven Nyman, US Ski team athletes Jake Zamansky, Julia Mancuso, Daron Rahlves, and freeskiers Rosalind Groenewoud, Colby West, and Jess McMillan.
“Having Spyder’s high profile athletes star in the 61st and 62nd annual feature films raises the bar on what is already the largest action sports film in the world. Warren Miller Entertainment is proud to partner with Spyder, another Boulder, Colorado company,” said Johnny Alamo, executive director of sponsorships at Warren Miller Entertainment.
Many of Spyder’s athletes will also make appearances at select shows along the 85 city tour for autograph signings, product giveaways, and to share firsthand their epic adventures like Davenport and Hagen’s recent first descents of the Antarctic Peninsula.
