Five people have been killed and thousands left without power after violent storms ripped through the southern Plains yesterday.

Oklahoma and Kansas have suffered several tornados accompanied by hail the size of baseballs, which downed power lines, crushed homes and decimated semitrailers.  One boy was killed at home by flying debris and man was killed when his vehicle flipped over on top of him.

One resident reported to AP, “The kids and I got in the closet and prayed,” said Jamie Keyes, of Norman, an Oklahoma City suburb that is home to the University of Oklahoma. “I heard a hiss. It was like something was whistling very loud.”

Heavy fog and no lights made it difficult for rescuers to work.  They were waiting on the light of day to continue their search for trapped survivors.

Here you’ll see video taken of tornados forming and deep storm clouds.  Skiing and the weather go hand in hand, so we thought you’d appreciate this amazing view of Mother nature.
