Four-year-old Ethan Stacy from Layton, Utah has gone missing. He is 4’4″, 50 lbs with blonde hair. Authorities had been searching the apartment complex where he lives with his mom and stepdad (police have not said whether or not those two can return home) but have now moved the search to Wolf Canyon Trail, near the Powder Mountain Ski Resort in Weber County.

At 12:30 PM today, investigators said there is something in the area, but have not revealed what they’ve found. At this point, about a dozen investigators from Layton and Weber county are there.

It’s a fairly “remote and rugged area,” said Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Philip Howell. “The trailhead is clear, but it is muddy and wet.”

Police said the area is being treated as a crime scene and the Medical Examiner’s Office has been called in case evidence is found that needs to be looked at.

Ethan’s mother has told police that he wanders off frequently, although he always comes back. This time he has not come back.

The boy was last seen wearing blue and red Spider-Man pajamas, what he was wearing when his mother put him to bed.

Police had been focusing their search with a square mile of the 500 West and 1400 North area. They interviewed a dozen registered sex offenders in the area as well as searched neighboring apartments, police said.
