Lake Tahoe expects continued snow through the end of May

If you live in NorCal, don’t hang up your ski gear for the summer just yet — it’s still snowing in the Sierra.

Lake Tahoe expects to receive snow all the way through Memorial Day weekend, topping off one of the greatest — and longest — spring ski seasons of the last decade. On May 22nd, Tahoe residents could step out of their homes into six inches of fresh powder, enough to cover the whole Basin’s snow deposit that got seven feet in the month of April.

Though the only ski resort still open in the area is down in Mammoth Mountain, the locals can certainly bask in the low temperatures (lows from 16 to 26 degrees on Friday) and count on the high chances (around 70% according to WeatherUnderground) of snow falling during the holiday weekend.
