Free hiking this weekend, National Trails day

All entrance fees to national parks, refuges, and other federal lands are waived this weekend, so get out there and take advantage of hiking, biking, climbing, skiing? riding?

WHO: American Hiking Society, will kick-off National Trails Day® (NTD) on Saturday, June 5th.

WHAT: American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day® is an open invitation to all Americans to get outside and celebrate our nation’s trails. Join American Hiking Society, non-profit organizations, government agencies, our sponsors, and more at one of the 1,500 NTD events taking place across the country. Celebrated in all 50 states and Canada, American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day is sponsored by Nature Valley, Backpacker magazine, Columbia Sportswear, Fetzer®, Intermap, Merrell and The North Face, and supported by YMCA of the USA, REI and American Park Network. Federal Partners of NTD are the Bureau of Land Management, Federal Highway Administration, National Park Service, USDA Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Enjoy hike, bike and paddle trips, trail maintenance projects, concerts, ribbon cutting ceremonies, health fairs, horseback rides, festivals and so much more!

WHEN: Saturday, June 5, 2010, all day long! PLUS, entrance fees to all national parks, refuges, and other federal lands are waived for the weekend of June 5-6!
