Aspen, Colorado- After his arrest back in late December, Charlie Sheen will soon face the consequences. According to Brooke’s attorney, Yale Galanter, he is going to serve a 30-day jail sentence, as well as a three month probation period. During his jail term, Sheen is requesting to be released during the day so he can work at the local Theatre Aspen company. If the judge accepts the plea agreement, the television star would spend the next month as a theater intern by day, and a jail inmate at night.
If the deal is approved, Sheen (who began his professional acting back in 1974) will most likely be teaching a class and helping with Theatre Aspen’s three summer productions.
He will also assist the non-profit theatre with fundraising efforts as well. The theater directors are open to this proposal, and have explained that if Charlie’s presence can benefit their organization, they are all for it.
The Incident- Christmas morning of 2009, Charlie Sheen, 44, was arrested upon felony charges after an alleged assault on his wife, Brooke Mueller, 32, in their rented home at the Aspen Ski Resort. “Sheen was brought to the Pitkin County Colorado Jail for booking and incarceration following his arrest by the Aspen Police Department,” sheriff’s patrol director Jeff Lumsden.
According to Aspen police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro, Charlie was charged with second-degree assault and menacing, as well as a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief. He is expected to plead guilty to the misdemeanor assault charge, in an exchange for prosecution to drop the felony menacing and criminal mischief charges.
Sheen and his second wife, actress Denise Richards, split in 2006, and an ugly, accusation-laden custody battle went on for years afterward. He was also once engaged to actress Kelly Preston, whom he accidentally shot in the arm. Considering his marriage issues in the past, it is safe to say that many people are not surprised about his latest charges.
Charlie Sheen currently stars in the hit CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men.” He recently signed a new contract to continue with the popular series, however the show will be put on hold during his incarceration period.
