Eagle, Colorado – The second race of the Vail and Beaver Creek Mountain Bike Race Series is taking place Wednesday, in Eagle Ranch. The Eagle Ranch Classic is open to all racers ages eight and older, through the jeep roads and single track surrounding the 4th of July trailhead, located in Eagle Ranch. Race distances range from 3.5 miles for youth racers, to 12 miles for the professional and expert racers.
The race begins at 5 p.m. with the Larkburger Youth Series riders (ages 8 to 14). Following next will be the Never Ever, Junior, Men and Women Beginner and Sport, Men’s and Women’s Vet Sport, Men’s Masters Sport and Clydesdales at 5:45 p.m.
The Men and Women Pro and Expert, as well as Masters Expert, Single Speed and Vet Experts will begin their races at 6:30 p.m. Registration for racing ends Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The official shop of the Eagle Ranch Classic, Mountain Pedaler, will be at the race to provide neutral support for racers facing any last minute mechanical problems.
Registration for the individual series costs $165, and to register for individual races the cost is $25 in advance, or $35 to register on the race-day.
The Dusty Boot in Eagle Ranch is throwing an after party celebration following the event. Michelob Ultra will be providing a free keg of beer for those who attend the party.
The prizes will also be presented after the race, to the top three race finishers from each category. There will also be the drawing of a raffle prize, featuring products from numerous race sponsors, local area merchants, as well as national companies.
On June 16th, racers will compete in the Berry Creek Bash in Edwards, and then head down to Vail for the Davos Dash, taking place on July 7th. After that follows the annual Mike Janelle Memorial Race, which will occur on July 21st, in conjunction with the Vail Grind on Vail Mountain.
Also a new race, the Boneyard Brawl, will premier August 4th in Eagle. Following this event, racers will end the series with the Beaver Creek Blast, which goes down in Beaver Creek, on August 25th.
