The pristine, undeveloped mountains surrounding the Taos Ski Valley are basically crowd free. Hikers and mountain bikers can find numerous trails through the New Mexico Rockies that lead to crystal clear mountain lakes and streams.
If hiking and pedaling up mountain trails isn’t your thing, local guides can take you to some of the most breathtaking sceneries on well-trained horses. Rides can include a chuck wagon dinner around the campfire.
Trout fishing is also a popular activity in the Taos Ski Valley. The beautiful clear waters of the Hondo River flow through the valley, providing stream fishing for rainbow and native trout. There are also local guides who are always available to lead you to some of the best fishing holes.
