Today, Aspen/Snowmass announced a summer full of new mountain operations and events in Snowmass.
Starting this summer, the Elk Camp Gondola will transport foot passengers and mountain bikers during June 19 through Sept. 6. The Elk Camp Gondola will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with the last ride down at 4:15 p.m. Mountain bikers will experience 40 miles of terrain from the gondola with trails for every level of biker. Hikers will see existing trails plus three new trails of varying levels of difficulty from the top of the Gondola.
Also, the Elk Camp chairlift will be open to foot passengers from Friday to Sunday, June 25 to Sept. 5. The lift will transport guests to the 11,325 foot summit of the Elk Camp area accessing spectacular views of Aspen/Snowmass and hiking trails.
Aspen/Snowmass will start again Thursday base village concerts in Snowmass from 4 to 6 p.m. before each Thursday concert on Fanny Hill, July 1 through August 19, 2010. The series will feature local and regional musicians on the base village plaza. Sneaky’s Tavern will feature specials and the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center will have free games for children in the Eagle Peak room.
Mountain bikers looking for an intense rush are invited to race in their new Get Down Snowmass Friday Bike Series, a five-week downhill series from July 31 to August 28. The weekly series invites locals, local riders and guests alike to showcase their skills on the new downhill trails from the Elk Camp Gondola down to Snowmass base village.
New this summer, the Elk Camp Café, which is located at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola, offering lunch with grilled items, fresh sandwiches, salads, kids menu and more.
