John Isner shows fatigue in quick loss after record match

Only a day after emerging victorious in the longest tennis match ever played, John Isner lost the shortest men’s match at Wimbledon so far.

The marathon man looked fatigued from the start on Friday, as he required treatment dating back to a neck injury and was beaten by an unseeded Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.

The match took only 1 hour, 14 minutes, and Isner’s five games he won were the fewest among male players this week.

Just goes to show that the old adage “what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger” doesn’t always apply.
