American explorer sets out on toughest triathlon in the world

Charlie Wittmack, a 33-year-old American explorer, is attempting to complete a 12,000-mile triathlon. He will swim 275-miles, starting in the River Thames and finishing by crossing the English Channel into France. From France, he will bike 9,000 miles across Europe and Asia, over the Himalaya Mountains to Calcutta, India. The last leg of his journey will be a 950-mile run, starting at the Bay of Bengal, and he will finish the triathlon by summiting Mount Everest. The whole course of the journey will take over eleven months, and take Charlie across thirteen countries. Charlie began his course on June 29th, 2010.
