The Miami Heat apparently aren’t done hunting for talent, as reports say LeBron James’ new team is currently in the process of courting the 2009-10 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers superstar Derek Fisher.
Fisher, a 5-time NBA champion and unrestricted free agent, has reportedly been contacted by several key personnel of the Miami Heat organization including multiple Heat players.
Rumors suggest that Fisher is scheduled to make his way to Miami tomorrow to listen to a pitch from Miami Heat President Pat Riley, the same man who managed to attract the trio of LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade to South Beach.
Sources suggest the champion Lakers have extended an offer to Fisher, but isn’t necessarily the deal the three-point threat is looking to sign just yet. The Heat are set to pay max contracts to three players next season, so it will be interesting to see if they have enough cash remaining to bring the Fish to Miami.
The Ski Channel staff is obviously up in arms over these rumors, as our location makes us obvious Lakers fans. Miami needs to learn to avoid cutting a check it can’t cash. If the Heat don’t think those three players and some minimum contract players are enough to win a title, tough luck. No need to go sniffing in Ski Channel’s favorite team for players.
