Lindsay Lohan surrenders to jail

Robert Shapiro, Shawn Chapman Holley, eventually it didn’t matter which lawyer represented Lindsay Lohan in court; the actress is going to jail.

Led by her estranged former/current attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, her mother Dina, and her father Michael, Lindsay appeared at the Beverly Hills Courthouse this morning to surrender and begin serving her three-month sentence. Realistically, the sentence is expected to top out at closer to three weeks.

Presiding Judge Marsha Revel did not allow a media circus to occur in her courtroom when Lohan was ultimately handcuffed, ceasing all camera use before the dramatic moment where the 24-year-old actress was taken into custody of the L.A. Sheriff’s Department.

“At this time, she will be remanded to serve her sentence,” the judge said. “At this point, all cameras are ordered to be shut off, both still and video.”

Lohan will not be eligible for house arrest or work release, and will be required to report to a probation officer within 24 hours of her release said Judge Revel.

Lindsay will begin processing at the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, Calif., where she will serve out her sentence. First is the processing phase of her Lynwood residency-fingerprinting, photographing, cell assignment, SCRAM bracelet removal and changing into the typical orange jumpsuit.

Last time Lohan was relegated to Lynwood back in 2007, Lohan barely got through that part, spending only 84 minutes in the facility’s confines.

However, that sort of luck isn’t expected this time around, as Lindsay will be a unlucky inmate if she is required to serve much longer than three weeks. Los Angeles County jails are overcrowded to the point that nonviolent offenders rarely serve more than 25 percent of their sentence, which for Lindsay would be end up being 22 1/2 days.

Following her release, Lohan is ordered to attend a 90-day in-patient rehab facility. Last time she entered a similar program at Utah’s Cirque Lodge, the actress found comfort in pro snowboarder Riley Giles, who was also being treated at the same facility. It’s currently not known which center Lohan will be admitted to this time around, but we’re betting Lohan would be wise to find herself a nice skier to even her snow sports affinity. Obviously, there will be no shortage of skiers that Lohan can chose from, as many will be struggling to deal with their addiction to snow, especially in these hot summer months.
