The final two spots for the New Zealand-based World Heli Challenge will be on the line in the upcoming Big Air Qualifier at Treble Cone on Wednesday, July 28th.

With such high stakes, the competition is sure to bring spectacular action as skiers and boarders tackle Treble Cone’s “Backcountry Big Air” with a goal of gaining a precious wild card entry into one of the world’s premier big-mountain events.

As previously reported, the World Heli Challenge returns to Wanaka, NZ to bring the world’s top athletes to compete on helicopter accessed terrain. The contest’s idea is to find out which athlete is the best “all rounder” by forcing competitors to combine their  best freeride and freestyle skills.

The first placed male skier and boarder will win a free entry in to the World Heli Challenge, with the top ten male entrants and top three female entrants of the Big Air Qualifier receiving wild card entries in to the Exstreamtv Style Snow Show at Lake Hawea.

Treble Cone has recently set up the backcountry course at the top of the Saddle Quad chair, and should bring about a large crowd of spectators hoping to witness the action.

Registration opens at the Treble Cone base at 8:30 a.m. and the event is scheduled to kick off at 11:00 a.m. before wrapping up at 3:00 p.m. with the awards ceremony.
