The Breckenridge Music Festival (BMF) presents a BMF Orchestra concert performing “Rodgers and Hammerstein: A Salute”, taking place this Thursday, August 5th. Songs will include: “Carousel,” “State Fair,” “The King & I,” “South Pacific,” “The Sound of Music,” and “Oklahoma.”
Masters of the American art form of Musical Theater, Rodgers and Hammerstein created many of their national collection of best-loved songs for these musicals, familiar from both stage and screen versions. The full orchestra of the original song will allow the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra under Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann to shine in this concert version with the Festival guest vocalists.
New festival guest vocalist, mezzo soprano Andrea Jaber, has performed the roles of Marion in The Music Man, and Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, as well as her many operatic roles. Also new to the Festival this year, soprano Ilana Dorfman has extensive performance experience in roles as varied as Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring and Zerlina in Don Giovani. Long-time Festival favorite, bass-baritone Daniel Boye, has been widely featured as an operatic and musical theater performer and as an oratorio soloist.
Join the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra for an exciting evening as they celebrate some of the best American musicals with “Rodgers and Hammerstein: A Salute” at the Riverwalk Center. For tickets: $25, $30, and $35 for adults, $10 for students, and $7 for juniors.
