World Champion ski jumper Johnny Spillane tears ACL, MCL

Ski jumper Johnny Spillane, a three-time Olympic silver medalist and former World Champion, confirmed he has completely torn both the ACL and MCL ligaments in his left knee.

The injury occured last month in Lake Placid, NY after Spillane landed awkwardly while cliff jumping into a lake as part of teammate and 2010 Olympic gold medalist Billy Demong’s wedding festivities.

Spillane has already has surgery to fix the ligament damage, and hopes to be ready for the 2011 season, including the 2011 World Championships in Oslo-Holmenkollen, Norway.
