Manchester, Vermont has been named one of the top ten tennis towns in the country by the United States Tennis Association, and was the only entry in the northeastern U.S. The acknowledgement recognizes the communities that best display the passion, excitement, spirit and impact that tennis has on the members of the community.
To take a look at the other nine towns nominated you can visit www.besttennistown.com. The best town will be announced during the 2010 U.S. Open, being held in New York from August 30-September 12. The finalist will win $100,000 to go towards tennis programming and facility enhancements. Second place will win $50,000 and third place will win $25,000.
Each of the ten towns have a featured video on the website. Stratton Mountain Resort, the Cliff Drysdale Tennis School at Stratton Mountain Resort and Scott Colebourne, the tennis director, are all featured in Manchester’s video.
Although Stratton is known for their skiing, that isn’t the only thing that makes them an acclaimed destination. The Cliff Drysdale Tennis School was recently named the fourth best Tennis Camp in the country by Tennis Resorts Online. Stratton also placed in the top five for the best resort tennis and instruction program, best resort junior tennis program, and overall New England tennis resorts. As you can see, Stratton isn’t just about the skiing.
